Private Training Options

Parents and players want to know: “What are my options working with a player development basketball trainer?”  Austin Youth Basketball believes that private training may  not be for every player.  Read more at “Would My Child Benefit Fom Private Training?”

If you believe Private Training is a fit- Austin Youth Basketball has several options available for you and can customize other options.

  1. Evaluation and Assessment – This is a recommended first step for players age eight and older.  This is a one hour session designed to test a player’s dynamic athleticism, basketball learning aptitude, and assessment of strengths and weaknesses.  Some skill trainimg will occur.  From this a written blueprint will be drawn up for future player development.  This blueprint will be designed around the passion, budget and time constraints of the player and their family.
  2. Private Training at Life Time Fitness – Customized Private Workouts designed to magnify player strengths while addressing player wekanesses.  These sessions are designed to help players make their basketball team, increase their skill and offensive production, enhance communication and leadership skills, and take their game to the next level.  Proper footwork is taught and practiced until it becomes intuitive.  Life Time Fitness is a world class facility in South Austin.
  3. Private Training on Sundays at Circle C – Perfect for players not memebers at Life Time Fitness.  Same as above but training takes place outside in a brand new beautiful athletic facility at Goryzcki Middle School.  Perfect for the family that wants to maximize instruction time.  Beautiful tennis courts, soccer field and a track with room for everyone in the family.
  4. MVP Driveway Workout – Coach Chris Corbett will come to your driveway and design a workout that is fun, productive, and results driven.   This is a perfect way to introduce your child to player development principles like measurement, self competition, no excuses, and focus.  The workout can then be repeated with or without the Coach.
  5. Parent /  Child Workout –  You need to workout.  Your young basketball player has the desire and passion to develop.  Coach Chris Corbett can design a workout that will provide a shared experience that you can both enjoy.  This workout is designed to be taught once and repeated without training.

Coach Chris Corbett can also do semi private training for teammates, brothers, sisters, etc.  The Coach currently only has 2-3 slots available per week due to his commitments in classes and camps.

Email Coach Chris Corbett chris@austinyouthbasketball.com (chris null@null austinyouthbasketball NULL.com) or call him at 512.921.4444 to schedule your private basketball training session.

What Will Your Excuse Be This Summer?

We all make excuses.  We make them every day.  Excuses that keep our game from getting better.  Excuses that keep us from becoming the best basketball player we can become, no matter our environment.  As the Director of Austin Youth Basketball- even I make excuses.   Stare your excuses in the face and ask them how they are helping your game improve.  Watch the video above to hear some great excuses.   Austin Youth Basketball has programs, camps, and private training to bring  love to the game… and stop making excuses.    Coach Chris Corbett 512.921.4444

Post Player Camp / Clinic

Post Player Basketball Camp Invite from Austin Youth Basketball
512.921.4444

This camp is for forwards and centers aged 11-17 looking to master the footwork and offensive moves to dominate in the post.  Shot blocking skills, offensive rebounding and passing out of the post will all be covered in great detail and drilled until these moves become intuitive.

Mike VandeGarde will be leading our Big Man Basketball Camp.  Austin Youth Basketball is proud to welcome Mike to their coaching ranks.  Mike is a distinguished former professional basketball player in Europe and South America.  Mike played college basketball at Illinois State where he left as the all time leading shot blocker in school history.  Mike has served as a coach at Texas State and Southeastern Community College in Iowa.  Mike currrently serves as a scout in the NBA.

Mike’s extensive  coaching in hundreds of basketball camps nationally and working for 10 years in player development help in delivering a dynamic and passionate learning experience for our students and campers.  Our Post Player Camp will be a great deal of fun and will maintain a strict instructor to player ratio so we recommend calling Coach Chris Corbett at 512.921.4444 to discuss this program and your child’s basketball experience.

Players will be grouped and schedules will be made in a highly focused one day 3 hour clinic environment.

Email chris@austinyouthbasketball.com for more info.
