2010 Day Camp (Now Past)

Full Day Camp Experience with Swimming Now Available

Austin Youth Basketball Welcomes Edwina Brown

Pro Edwina Brown to Coach Austin Youth Basketball Girls Summer Camp

Austin Youth Basketball is pleased to announce that Edwina Brown (http://www NULL.edwinabrown NULL.com)will be joining the coaching staff.  Edwina will be the lead instructor of our Girls Summer Camp and will also be available for specialty clinic workouts.

Edwina is returning from the playoffs with her professional team in Israel.  Edwina was recently inducted into the University of Texas Women’s Hall of Honor and holds many Longhorn basketball records. She was a two time All American and still holds a number of records including: 1705 career points, 517 career assists and 257 career steals.

Girls Basketball Camp 2010 (Now Past)

Girls Camp is for girls ages seven thru eighteen.  The fundamentals of the game will be stressed with footwork, offensive moves, and passing skills emphasized.  Camp will be from 8:00 to noon, Monday thru Friday, July 19 thru 23. All camps will be held at South Austin’s Life Time Fitness world class facility located off Mopac and William Cannon. Meet Coach Edwina Brown

Edwina Brown was born in Dallas, TX and shortly after moved to Lockhart, TX. As a natural athlete, Edwina grew up playing all sports but excelled in basketball. In her senior year, she was named the Class 4A Player of the Year and was awarded a basketball scholarship to The University of Texas at Austin.

College Career (1996-2000)
Edwina had four successful seasons at The University of Texas.
A list of her accomplishments include:
– Two-time All-American
– First-team All Big XII Conference Selection (Junior & Senior Years)
– 2000 Margaret Wade Trophy Winner (National Player of the Year)
– 2000 Kodak All-American Team (Top 10 Players in the Nation)
– 2000 Big XII Conference Tournament MVP
– 2000 University of Texas Friar Society Award
– 1999-2000 ESPN.com National Player of the Year
– 1999 USA Pan American Games Bronze Medalist (Canada)
– 1998 USA R. Williams Jones Cup Gold Medalist (Taiwan)

Additionally, Edwina still holds a number of UT records including 1,705 career
points, 517 career assists and 257 career steals, and she remains the only
individual in school history to lead the team in scoring, rebounding, assists
and steals in the same year, an accomplishment she achieved in both her
junior and senior years.

Professional Career (2000 – Present)
As the third overall pick in the 2000 WNBA Draft, Edwina played five years in the WNBA with the Detroit Shock (2000-2002) and Phoenix Mercury (2003-2004) before playing professionally overseas.

Edwina has played internationally in Lebanon, Austria, Spain, France
and most recently in Israel where she is currently playing in the

Recent Awards
Edwina’s most recent accolade is her impending induction
into The University of Texas Women’s Hall of Honor, scheduled

Philanthropy
