Leadership for Underclassmen on Varsity Basketball

Mark Sanchez was recently interviewed regarding the burden of quarterbacking the NY Jets despite being a sophomore in the NFL. Austin Youth Basketball trains many sophomores and freshmen basketball players on their high school varsity. While social pecking orders and locker room culture may make them doubt themselves, it is essential they not shy away from being leaders. Leadership is not the job of one player per team. It is the responsibility of all players. You are on varsity. Lead. Start by leading yourself on a path of excellence. Lead by example. Lead by listening. Lead by communicating. Lead by following the right people and supporting them. Lead by your actions. Your coach put you on varsity for a reason.
